To this purpose, the EU's role is important. As a major economy and a vantage point in the region, India has the capacity to become an important partner for EU's engagement in the Indo-Pacific. But as external affairs minister S Jaishankar pointed out, this will require a change of approach that acknowledges globalisation of different theatres, the plural being underlined.
