Asian shares tentative on global growth concerns, Japan surges

Asian share markets were subdued on Friday due to soft economic data from the US and China that magnified concerns of a global slowdown; however, Japanese stocks outperformed. Bank worries also persist following PacWest's deposits falling by 9.5% last week, leading to sharp falls in regional banks. The US dollar held on to its gains from safe-haven flows, benefiting from growth concerns and banking worries, and Treasury yields were slightly lower in Asia. However, Alphabet Inc's rollout of more artificial intelligence products supported the Nasdaq futures, which rose by 0.3%, with S&P 500 futures up 0.2%.
