No oil exploration in disputed areas without consulting all stakeholders and tribal bodies in the area, says Nagaland government

The government of Nagaland has announced plans to consult with stakeholders before signing an MoU with Assam on oil exploration within the disputed areas of the two Indian states. Oil India is planning to conduct a 3D seismic survey of 4,000 sq km of area as soon as conditions allow. The NSCN-IM and Working Committee of Naga National Political Groups are against any natural resources exploration before the Naga political issue is resolved. ONGC stopped exploration in Nagaland in 1994 after the NSCN (IM) asked it to leave.
