Chana prices fall below MSP in Maharashtra

Chana (gram) prices in Maharashtra have fallen between 4% and 6%, dropping below the minimum support price level (MSP) due to the inclusion of chana in the state government's stock declaration order. This has raised concerns among farmers, as government buying at MSP is limited. Despite the government's commitment to monitor chana stocks, pulses processors report that the overall atmosphere of fear has curtailed trading volume, leading to a fall in chana prices. National Agricultural Cooperative Marketing Federation is the nodal agency for chana procurement in the country, having procured 13.76 lakh tonnes of chana.
