European shares rise on hopes of end of US rate-hike cycle

European shares were boosted by the expected halt of the US Federal Reserve’s aggressive interest rate-hike policy following the unexpected fall in US producer prices in March. The pan-European STOXX 600 rose 0.3%, while real estate shares led gains rising by 0.7%. Hermes' shares went up by 0.9% after the Birkin bag manufacturer announced sales growth of 23% in Q1. Further gains were posted by TomTom, which jumped 11.8% after reporting better than expected Q1 revenues. However, insurance shares slid by 0.6%. The STOXX 50 index was up by 0.3%.
