Chandana's offering
Mahavir, the 24th Jain Tirthankar, imparted the eternal principles of satya and ahimsa, and worked to uplift the status of women in society. Acharya Gunbhadra narrates in the Uttarpurana, verses 338-347, the story of Princess Chandana who was abducted and sold as a slave to a rich man, Vrishabhdutt, in Kaushambi.
