India's Steel Authority (SAIL) produced 18.29 million tonnes of crude steel in the year to end-March 2023, a growth of over 5% versus the previous year, setting a new record. The company's hot metal production reached 19.41 million tonnes over the year. SAIL is one of India's largest steel producers, with an annual capacity of 19 million tonnes of steel, and primarily produces through five integrated and three special plants in the country. The company is looking to expand its capacity by as much as 13 million tonnes by 2030-31.
