In India, we have not seen many movies celebrating women. For ages it has been the custom in almost all movies where the protagonist will be a man and fight villains to rescue his damsel in distress. Women in Indian cinemas were largely shown as the ones whose hands would be tied, or ones who are only good at singing and dancing. Many top actresses have also often confessed that women’s role usually is limited in most movies as a showpiece.
