Mahindra BE 6, XEV 9e Achieve Record-Setting 5-Star Bharat-NCAP Safety Ratings: All You Need To Know

Mahindra’s electric SUVs, the BE 6 and XEV 9e, have made history by securing the highest-ever 5-star safety ratings in Bharat New Car Assessment Programme (Bharat-NCAP) tests. This achievement underscores Mahindra’s commitment to safety as it transitions into the electric mobility era.

Record-Breaking Scores

The XEV 9e earned a flawless 32/32 in adult occupant protection, complemented by an impressive 45/49 in child safety tests. Similarly, the BE 6 delivered near-perfect results, scoring 31.93/32 for adult safety and matching the XEV 9e’s 45/49 in child protection evaluations. These scores establish the BE 6 and XEV 9e as not only the safest EVs but also the most secure SUVs on Indian roads.

Built on Mahindra’s purpose-designed INGLO platform, these electric SUVs integrate cutting-edge safety features. The platform incorporates a low-centre-of-gravity battery setup to enhance stability and handling, especially addressing the challenges posed by the typically high centre of gravity in SUVs.

The battery pack is housed in a robust structure that reinforces passenger safety, employing ultra-high-strength boron steel for added durability. Additionally, the platform undergoes rigorous testing to ensure resilience against extreme conditions and crashes.

Advanced Technology For Safety

Both eSUVs are equipped with Mahindra’s MAIA technology, powering an advanced Level 2+ ADAS system. This system features multiple radars and a vision camera to deliver functionalities like:

Driver-initiated auto lane change Emergency steering assist Cross-traffic alerts Automatic emergency braking

Additional features include a 360-degree camera, VisionX augmented reality HUD, blind spot monitoring, and seven airbags, ensuring comprehensive protection.

The BE 6 and XEV 9e join Mahindra’s lineup of 5-star-rated vehicles, including the Thar ROXX, XUV 3XO, and XUV400, which excelled in Bharat-NCAP tests. Other models like the XUV700 and Scorpio-N have achieved similar recognition on the Global NCAP scale.

R. Velusamy, President of Automotive Technology at Mahindra, highlighted the achievement as a milestone for the company and the automotive industry in India. “The BE 6 and XEV 9e mark the start of a new era not only for Mahindra, but also for automotive safety in India. Built on INGLO architecture and powered by the most powerful mind in the automotive world – MAIA, BE 6 and XEV 9e are engineered to set new standards on all fronts of the automotive experience,” he said.

This landmark accomplishment firmly establishes Mahindra as a leader in automotive safety and innovation, paving the way for a future where electric mobility and safety go hand in hand.
