80% bikers wear helmet but less than 1% pillion riders use it in AP
Officials of Road Transport Authority (RTA) and police department said there is an increase in the number of bikers wearing protective headgear, from 70% to 80%, in cities and towns in state. Wearing seat belts also saw an upswing among drivers in cities as at least 50% of the motorists use seat belts. However, around 20 to 30 bikers are using low quality (non-ISI certified) helmets, just to avoid police checking.
