Independence Day: Anand Mahindra's M&M gave Pakistan its first finance minister

Mahindra & Mohammed was founded in 1945 by Kailash Chandra Mahindra, Jagdish Chandra Mahindra, and Malik Ghulam Muhammad in Ludhiana, Punjab. The company later became M&M, which is now an industrial conglomerate. After the Partition of India in 1947, Muhammad migrated to Pakistan and became its finance minister. Previously, he had worked as an administrator of Bhopal state, advised the Nizam of Hyderabad, and held bureaucratic positions in the colonial government. He is credited with Pakistan's first Five-Year Plan.
