ZAMBOANGA CITY, ZAMBOANGA DEL SUR, Philippines --- Eight people, two of them children, were killed when gunmen from the Abu Sayyaf Group attacked government troops in Patikul town, Sulu province, on Saturday, military reports said. Brig. Gen. Divino Rey Pabayo, commander of the Joint Task Force Sulu, said 1-year-old Saiful Abdun and 12-year-old Jahida Usab were among the fatalities when Abu Sayyaf members attacked the village of Igasan, triggering a firefight with soldiers, which lasted 30 minutes. The military claimed to have killed six and wounded seven Abu Sayyaf members.
