Drunk cop, friend kick up a ruckus at a bar in Medipally

Hyderabad: An armed reserve constable deputed to the city security wing that looks after the security of the Chief Minister and other VVIPs, and his friend created ruckus at a bar in Medipally on Sunday after getting drunk.

Vijay Bhaskar and his friend Janardhan Reddy who claimed to be ‘gunmen’ of the Telangana Chief Minister attacked the bar staff after they were ‘not served’ chilled beer. Later, the duo filed a complaint alleging that they were beaten up by the bar staff, but the police after checking CCTV footage registered a case against the duo and detained them.

Vijay Bhaskar and his friend Janardhan Reddy, both residents of Boduppal, came to Swagath Bar in Boduppal on Sunday evening and asked for beer. When the staff supplied them beer, they consumed a little and saying that it was not cool, asked for chilled beer. The staff then served them new beer. But the duo was not satisfied with the beer and threatened the staff claiming that they were gunmen of the Chief Minister. They also abused the staff and bar owner Shiva Prasad.

They threatened to attack the owner with a bottle and later assaulted him and injured his hands. When the staff tried to catch them they fled from the spot. Later, Vijay Bhaskar and his friend and the owner lodged complaints against each other at the Medipally police station stating that they were beaten up.

“But after checking CCTV footage at the bar we found that Vijay Bhaskar and Janardhan Reddy had assaulted the owner and their allegations against the owner and staff were false,” Medipally inspector  K. Jagannath Reddy said.

Based on the owner's complaint, a case for inflicting injuries (324), criminal intimidation (506) and mischief causing damage (427) was registered against Vijay Bhaskar and Janardhan Reddy. The inspector said that Vijaya Bhaskar was deputed to the City Security Wing but was not in the team protecting the CM. Janardhan Reddy was a realtor.
