Coastal Road: HC asks BMC to maintain status quo

In a jolt to the Maharashtra government and the BMC, the Bombay high court on Tuesday ordered th authorities to stop work and ordered a status quo on the reclamation being carried out for the Mumbai coastal road project. A division bench of chief justice Pradeep Nandrajog and justice Nitin Jamdar granted the order on PILs filed challenging clearances for the project. BMC and state had opposed an interim injunction against the work claiming it would cause a loss of over Rs 10 crore per day.
