FIR against Prajwal for seeking votes in the name of caste

Hassan: In a major embarrassment to PWD minister H D Revanna’s son and JD (S) candidate Prajwal R, a First Information Report (FIR) was registered against him in Hallimysuru police station on charge of seeking votes in the name of caste, on Monday.

The FIR was filed following directions from deputy commissioner Priyanka Mary Francis in the aftermath of a speech by Mr Prajwal at Doddakadanuru village of Hallimysuru hobli in Holenarsipura taluk on Sunday, April 7. The FIR was filed by officers of the flying squad of Hassan parliamentary constituency. The JD (S) candidate was in  Doddakadanuru village at around 10.30 AM, trying to woo voters by mentioning about Veerashaivas. Doddakadanuru in Hallimysuru hobli, located in Holenarsipura taluk, forms part of Arkalagudu Assembly seat. In Hallimysuru hobli, voters belonging to Kuruba and Veerashaiva communities are dominant in number but have reportedly distanced themselves from JD (S)

Official sources said Mr Prajwal spoke on similar lines, lauding the contributions of Veerashiava community leaders of Belur taluk of Hassan while delivering a speech at Antraghata in Kadur taluk on April 9 (Tuesday).
