Digital space is one of the fastest evolving platforms in the entertainment industry. The online platform is opening new doors when theatere are unable to meet the increasing number of films. After Priyadarshan’s Prakash Raj starrer Sila Samayangalil, which premiered on Netflix and Balajee Dharaneetharan’s Oru Pakka Kathai, which is set to hit the online platform, now actor Kathir’s delayed flick Sigai, where he has essayed a transgender has been released on Zee 5.
Directed by Jagadeesan Subu, the crime thriller deals with the issue of prostitution and has a message – it speaks for the transgender. The actors include Raj Bharath who plays a reluctant pimp, Meera Nair and Riythivika as hookers, Mayilsamy as the call taxi driver and Kathir of Pariyerum Perumal fame as a transwoman.
While Raj Bharath and Meera Nair are impressive, it is Kathir as Mathiyazhagan, who steals the show. Be it his body language, posture and dialogue delivery, Kathir who has gone on an image makeover nails his expressions and shines.
