F2 movie review: Hilarious and entertaining

Cast: Venkatesh, Varun Tej, Tamannaah, Mehreen, Prakash Raj, Nasser, Pragathi and othersDirector: Anil Ravipudi

Another big film releases on Sankranti. This time it’s a multi-starrer with Venkatesh and Varun Tej as the lead actors. For director Anil Ravipudi, who has a track record of three consecutive successful films, this is his fourth as director.

Harika (Tamannaah) and Honey (Mehreen) are two sisters with attitude, and their mother (Pragathi) supports them.

Venky (Venkatesh), who works as PA to an MLA (Raghu Babu), has an arranged marriage with Harika. He dreams a lot about his wife, but life after marriage is frustrating as differences on silly things crop up between the couple.

Varun Yadav (Varun Tej) a typical Hyderabadi boy falls in love with Honey, and is set to get engaged to her. Venky, who knows about his in-laws, cautions Varun and advises him against marrying Honey, but he is in love with Honey, so pays no heed, and gets married.

The sisters are dominating in every respect and Venky and Varun get frustrated. With the help of their neighbour (Rajendra Prasad), they go on a trip to Europe. The sisters follow them soon after, and they all land-up in Naidu’s (Prakash Raj) house. Who is Naidu, why did everyone reach his house, did the sisters have a change of heart and what happens next is the crux of the story.

Ravipudi is strong as a writer, especially in comedy. In this film too, he just concentrates on how to entertain. The story of two husbands getting frustrated with their wives is shown in a natural and hilarious way. The director’s penchant for creating situational comedy was seen in his earlier films. His writing is lively and the dialogues entertain.

The portrayal of Venkatesh in his in-laws house is hilarious. While the first half of the film is complete fun, the second half drags, but the director manages with comic scenes. While the two female leads are more glamorous and also get to perform, Venkatesh is the highlight of the film. The way in which he handles his role is superb. His energy levels are high and definitely it is a funny role for him after his earlier two films Malliswari and Nuvvu Naku Nachav that released decades ago. Varun Tej too has played his part well, but his Telangana accent does not suit him, as it looks forced. Tamannaah is beautiful and glamorous, and pulls the role off very well. Mehreen also does justice to her role.

The music provided by Devi Sri Prasad is good.

F2 definitely provides entertainment from beginning to end. Anil Ravipudi’s winning streak is going further on with this Sankranti winner too.
